I’m not a big believer in new year resolutions, but, if I was to have to choose one for 2025 it would be not to get discouraged by the noisy Christian faction who seem to view modern science as somehow a threat to our faith...

If you think it’s important for kids to see science and faith as complementary, not conflicting, God’s Cosmic Cookbook could be exactly the Christmas present you are looking for. With its state-of-the-art science, laugh-out loud humour and accessible language, it is a great book to read with children or for them to read on their own.

Bible stories aren’t there to teach us science, but to help us understand who God is and how important we are to God. Science can’t tell us anything about things like this! If we don’t want our children to think that God and science are opposed or, at best, have nothing to do with each other; we need to explain this.

This month sees a major revision of the draft teaching resources to accompany God’s Cosmic Cookbook.

Broken into six bite-sized sections, the course helps teachers, parents and youth group leaders use GCC in a teaching or discussion-group setting with minimal preparation. Encouraging group participation throughout and with great ideas for follow-on activities after each session, kids are allowed to explore and develop their own views.

Leaders need no scientific expertise and can apply the course in full or in part.
