GCC – The perfect Christmas gift for any young scientist in your family

Christmas presents

Christmas is a time for giving and a great present for any youngster is something that will serve them well throughout life…

Most children and teenagers, are fascinated by science and the world around them whether it’s life in the ocean depths, the workings of a computer, amazing images from the James Webb telescope or amphibians in the nearest pond... What’s not to wonder at?! It is all amazing and wonderful.

Help make sure the kids in your life understand and know that modern science can never undermine God in any way… They will never have to choose between their growing Christian faith and their passion for science – in fact God shares their joy in it.

As science reveals more and more about creation so it gives us a deeper appreciation of the glory and power of our creator – No question about it (to paraphrase Isaiah 55); … God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are our ways God’s ways. Science enriches our faith. However, until recently there has been a big gap in children’s resources, between Bible stories in one corner and science textbooks in the other.

This is no longer the case. God’s Cosmic Cookbook (GCC) is just one of a growing library of books and other materials combining science and faith for children and young people of different ages.

GCC presents state-of-the-art science using accessible language and laugh-out-loud humour to appeal to youngsters over 8. If the child you love is between 8 and 13 – or over 20 (seriously!) – GCC is the book for them.

Also, check out the additional science and faith resources for children and young people of different ages available from the other great resources listed on this site.

To paraphrase Isaiah 55 again; As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than our ways and God’s thoughts than our thoughts.

And science replies ‘Amen.’

She is a firm believer that science and faith both honour our creator God and is enthusiastic to help Christians without a science background see that there is nothing to fear from modern science.

Published in 2023, Liz’s first book, God’s Cosmic Cookbook, is written for 8-13 year olds. With gentle humour throughout, it presents God the chef talking young readers through how to make their own universe at home step by step - from the Big Bang to people!
